Excitement For The Future

Tell us about your career to date. What were you doing before you formed South Coast Traffic Management?

I started my career within the quick service restaurant and click-and-collect industry as an IT installation engineer. My role was to install QSR systems and refit KFCs, install and train the staff on Tesco and Asda click-and-collect systems and more.

I thoroughly enjoyed my role, but due to a change in personal circumstances, I ended up moving on and working near where I lived. This pushed me into traffic management, where my customer service experience shined in helping the public, I have always enjoyed working outside and on a tight schedule, so I naturally fell in love with traffic management, especially at South Coast Traffic Management.

Managing Director SCTM

Did you always want to own your own company? What other careers did you consider?

My ultimate goal was always to own a business and really strive to up the standards and be the best our team and I could be. I bought into a franchise and ran that alongside my uncle, who also had a franchise. He taught me many lessons, and as my confidence grew within the franchise, I felt I could push to completely own something of my own.

Tell us about your highlights as Managing Director/Business Development Manager.

Many highlights from purchasing our first brand-new vans to expanding into another location. My personal favourite would have to be successfully completing the traffic management requirements for the Devon County Show. This is a huge event in the area we have really exploded into, and seeing how the whole company pulled together with new equipment was fantastic, including the feedback we received.

What are three things we should know about the team?

  1. Tenacious. Once our team gets stuck in, we don’t lose focus.
  2. Standards. We always have our goal in mind, the reason we started. To be the best.
  3. Attentive. In our work and attitude, our clients and public safety come first.

What challenges do your clients face, and how does the team respond?

We face many challenges once we start a job, from equipment breakdowns to weather changes. Working outside can prove to be tough. We strive to offer the best assistance from effective communication between the operatives on the road and the office to ensuring the site is always safe, and permits are up to date.

How would you describe South Coast Traffic Management?

A market-leading company with the use of the most up-to-date and advanced technology offered in our industry. We are proving time and time again our worth, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team we have.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in traffic management?

Go for it. This role has many benefits from working outside to exploring new areas and being flexible with hours/shift patterns. It is a fast-paced industry with the opportunity to learn a lot and fast with good pay. Why not give us a call and come and start your next career journey with us?!
