Devon County Show

Our Job at the Devon County Show

At South Coast Traffic Management, we take pride in our expertise in traffic management solutions. We had the privilege of collaborating with Tracsis Events, a valued client, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the highly anticipated Devon County Show. Our team was entrusted with managing lane and road closures, as well as implementing a contraflow system for the duration of the event.

The Task

Working closely with Tracsis Events, our primary objective was to maintain traffic movement, minimise congestion, and facilitate safe access to the event grounds. Tracsis Events provided their own traffic light and stop-and-go equipment while we leveraged our experience and knowledge in traffic management strategies to ensure a successful outcome.

The Challenges

One of the significant challenges we faced during the Devon County Show was the sheer volume of attendees. To keep traffic flowing smoothly, we meticulously planned and executed our traffic management measures. Ensuring the safety of both pedestrians and drivers within the event area was our top priority.

The Outcome

Throughout the three-day event, our dedicated team of six operatives worked tirelessly to manage traffic effectively. We collaborated closely with Tracsis Events, providing valuable assistance in directing traffic into the car park and managing traffic backups. By deploying our expertise and working hand-in-hand with our client, we contributed to the uninterrupted flow of traffic during the event.

Our proactive approach was evident from the start. We conducted a site meeting on Wednesday to review the works and pre-set the necessary signage. On Thursday, we arrived at 5 am to promptly install the traffic management measures and establish a live site. These preparatory steps ensured a well-executed traffic management plan, resulting in a successful outcome.

It has been confirmed that The Devon County Show 2023 welcomed in excess of 96k attendees across its three show days – one of the highest attendance figures in the Association’s 151-year history.
